There are not many more urgent occasions than when a patient is presenting with the effects of a poisoning and looking for an antidote or treatment information. It is right up there with a full-on clinical emergency. So, having access to well informed and organised poison professionals is absolutely vital.

Based on an enquiry (or case based) paradigm, EZ-PID exists to ensure that the details surrounding poison enquiries can be quickly, easily, and accurately recorded. This ensures vital traceability, and the recording of what advice was given during the initial enquiry and any follow-up conversations.

At the same time, the system has been specifically designed to provide responders with the information that they need to progress the enquiry and then to automatically monitor the whole system for potential poison substance alerts.

To support Poisons Information Centres to capture and maintain poisoning information and to provide poison alerts. Thereby empowering poison professionals and governments to make better, more informed decisions and to help to protect the health of their nations.

Enquiries

Accurate recording of poison enquiries is fundamental to the operation of any Poisons Information Service and EZ-PID has been designed to fully manage the lifecycle of the enquiry. 

The data capture forms have been designed to enhance the responder’s call taking workflow, whilst providing the responder with important information about the patient and the substances involved.

Substance Information

Behind every poisoning enquiry is one or more toxic substances. These include medication, household chemical products, industrial products, recreational drugs and more. 

EZ-PID helps Poison Information Service’s to capture important information about said substances. This includes copies of Safety Data Sheets, substance ingredients, medical advice information and more.

Substance Alerts

Whilst enquiries are being recorded, EZ-PID constantly monitors the system for substances appearing in enquiry records. 

When a certain criterion is reached, the system enters into a Substance Alert situation and the Alert Status is changed from green to red. At the same time, an alert email is sent to user defined recipients so that urgent action can be taken.
